Day 1 - Auckland
Welcome to Auckland! Once you check into your hostel the day and evening is yours free to find out exactly why Auckland is so famous.
Day 2 - Auckland
Today you have another full day to explore Auckland. Soak in the city or jump on board one of the heaps of optional day trips including the stunning Waiheke Island.
Day 3 - Rotorua
This morning you'll wave goodbye to Auckland and hello to Rotorua as you check into your hostel and explore the town.
Day 4 - Waitomo Caves and Hobbiton / Rotorua
Marvel at Mother Nature's light display as you glide silently through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto. Meander underground along the Waitomo River and gaze in silence at the myriad of glow-worm lights that make up the Glowworm Grotto. This afternoon you'll then explore the Hobbiton movie set. The charming countryside of The Shire, as described in JRR Tolkien's books, was painstakingly recreated on a working sheep and beef farm and now draws visitors from around the world. On your guided tour you'll see charming Hobbit holes, the Mill and the Party tree. Tonight is yours free to explore Rotorua.
Day 5 - 8.30pm Whitewater Rafting / Tamaki Maori Village / Rotorua
This morning you'll get your blood pumping with an afternoon white water rafting. Snake through steep native bush clad canyons and over 14 awesome rapids & 3 waterfalls including world-renowned 7-meter Tutea Falls, the Highest Commercially Rafted Waterfall in the World! Blended with touches of Maori culture, this trip offers it all, for both whitewater rafting enthusiasts and first timers! You'll have a chance to dry off and relax for the afternoon before enjoying an evening cultural experience. This evening you'll experience a Maori cultural show complete with a traditional buffet dinner set within the 200-year-old native Tawa Forest.
Day 6 - Wai-O-Tapu AND Waimangu / Rotorua
Sculptured out of volcanic activity and thousands of years in the making, Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is considered to be New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse geothermal sightseeing attraction. You are introduced to a uniquely different natural landscape – the key to what you see lies below the surface – one of the most extensive geothermal systems in New Zealand, extending over 18-sq. km.
Day 7 - OGO Rotorua / Rotorua
This morning you'll be treated to a truly unique experience - the fastest, longest and steepest downhill ball rolling track in the world! The experience of rolling down a hill inside a giant inflatable OGO has been an iconic adventure experience since Andrew and David Akers (the inventors) developed their first operation in Rotorua back in 1997. Starting from 350m up the hill, visitors are rewarded with spectacular views over Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island.
Day 8 - Taupo
This afternoon you'll jump on board your bus and head to Taupo where you'll check in for three nights. Nestled between a stunning lake and alpine mountain ranges, take a stroll and soak in the views.
Day 9 - Skydive / Taupo
Today you'll be treated to the best views in town with a blood-pumping Taupo skydive! With a local Hummer pick up and panoramic views that sweep across glacial lakes, rugged mountains and hidden inlets, there's no better place to experience the thrill of a lifetime.
Day 10 -Taupo
Today you'll have another full day to explore Taupo. Take a stroll around the iconic lake, a volcanic caldera that drains into the Huka Falls. For an alternative, the town is also surrounded by hot springs to soak away the afternoon.
Day 11 - Wellington
Today your off to NZ's capital - Wellington. Check into your hostel and then head out to explore the city.
Day 12 - Wellington
Today is your last chance to enjoy the capital of NZ before boarding your ferry over to the South Island tomorrow morning.
Day 13 - Nelson
Jump on board your ferry as your transit between the north and south islands. You'll hop off in the pretty seaside town of Nelson where you'll check in for 2 nights. Wander the bay and scout out some of the local seafood this area is famous for.
Day 14 - Nelson
You're spoiled with choices in Nelson but why do anything else other than Abel Tasman National Park? Jump on board an optional day trip that takes you through one of New Zealand's Great Walks along sandy beaches and clear waters.
Day 15 - Franz Josef
This morning you will check out of your hostel and jump on board your back to Franz Josef. This stunning alpine town lies in the shadow of one of New Zealand's most iconic glacier. Soak in the views and spend some time exploring before getting an early night - you've got a big day tomorrow!
Day 16 - Heli Hike / Franz Josef
Today you will embark on an incredible heli-hike experience on Franz Josef Glacier. After an exciting scenic flight, you land high up on the glacier and undertake a three hour guided tour amongst some of the most pristine and awe-inspiring glacier scenery available. Your guide chooses the route as you go and with an eye for the most spectacular ice formations, you'll soon be making your way through a wonderland of towering pinnacles and brilliantly blue ice. You'll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and with plenty of photo opportunities and the chance to learn more about this magnificent glacier, this will almost certainly be your most memorable experience whilst in New Zealand. This Heli hike includes entry into the fabulous Glacier Hot Pools for after the tour before you head back to your hostel.
Day 17 - Wanaka
Today you'll jump on board your bus and head to the resort town of Wanaka. This gateway to the Southern Alps is blessed with glaciers, beech forests and alpine lakes as well as incredible peaks that offer hiking in the summer months and shred slopping snow sports in the winter. Check into your hostel for two nights and then head out to explore.
Day 18 - Wanaka
Today is another free day to explore all Wanaka has to offer.
Day 19 - Queenstown
This morning you will check out of your hostel and jump on board your bus to Queenstown. Check into your hostel and then drop your bags to head out and explore the city!
Day 20 - Queenstown
Today is another free day to explore all that Queenstown has to offer.
Day 21 - Milford Sound / Queenstown
Today is an early one but trust us it's worth it. The early bird catches the worm and so can you with this Sunriser coach tour and be the first coach tour from Queenstown to arrive in Milford Sound and first back to Queenstown giving you a full night of fun on the town. Sit back, draw the curtains and have a snooze as you travel firstly to Te Anau approx 2hours after departure, wake up and enjoy a refreshment break before making the rest of the journey through the Stunning Fiordland National Park to Milford Sound. We will treat you to uncrowded scenic photo stops and nature walks to experience the uniqueness and beauty of this stunning area as we make our way to Milford Sound. Relax on an uncrowded, modern catamaran while we spoil you with unlimited, close up viewing of waterfalls, wildlife and rainforest from our three viewing decks where you will also enjoy an included lunch. After the cruise, you will board the coach for your return to Queenstown. We allow time for a quick refreshment in Te Anau on the return, so sit back and relax for your journey home. We will drop you off at the location we picked you up from around 6pm.
Day 22 - Jetboat / Queenstown
Step onto a big yellow Kawarau Jet every hour at the Main Town Pier in the centre of Queenstown. Experience an hour-long Jet boat adventure, speed down the Kawarau River and up the shallow, fast-moving braids of the Shotover River. You’ll be transported from the sophisticated downtown area into the channels of two of New Zealand’s most scenic rivers. Across the pristine waters of Lake Wakatipu and through the tranquil beauty of the willow-lined Kawarau River, the Jet boat then speeds into the shallow, fast-moving braids of the Shotover River. The 43 kilometre, hour-long adventure highlights the magnificent diversity of Queenstown’s waterways.
Day 23 - Bungy Jump / Queenstown
Welcome to the best thing you’ve ever done. Go full throttle with the 134m Nevis Bungy (the highest in New Zealand). Freefall for 8.5 seconds in a blitz of pure fear and adrenaline. Don’t say we didn’t warn you, because this is definitely going to put the cement in your coffee. The rest of the day is yours free to explore.
Day 24 - Queenstown
Today is your final day in Queenstown so make sure you soak in the last of the city vibes!
Day 25 - Christchurch
Today you'll wave goodbye to Queenstown and hello to Christchurch. Famous for its English heritage, this east coast location is jam-packed with idyllic parks and gardens to explore.
Day 26 - Kaikoura **not included**
Today you have the option to explore stunning Kaikoura. Famous for its marine life and coastal walkways, you can spot Sperm whales, fur seals, wild dolphins & more!
Day 27 - Wellington
This morning you will transit by bus and ferry to the North Island where you'll check into your Wellington hostel for one night.
Day 28 - Auckland
This morning you'll jump on board your bus from Wellington to Auckland. You'll spend one final afternoon and evening free exploring the city.
Day 29 - Checkout
This morning you'll check out of your central hostel where your adventure will come to an end!
