Starting the Adventure from Sydney: The Coast Warriors Blue Mountains adventure commences with some downtown city Sydney pickups near your accommodation or lightrail/train stop. After everyone shuffles on the minibus we have an hour drive through some tunnels, motorways and western Sydney on our way to the Blue Mountains. Spend this hour to connect with your seat neighbours, chill out to the bus playlist or feeling a little tired then grab a bit of sleep. As we enter the lower Blue Mountains we pull of the Great Western Highway and enter the local National Park to head over to a cool lookout where the bush of the lower Blue Mountains meets the suburbs of greater Sydney. In this part of the National Park we have a lovely little drive up and down some steep hills, through thick Eucalyptus bush, drive through a shallow river and sometimes we spot the occasional wallaby or kangaroo from the bus (rare). About 10 minutes later we stop by Glenbrook which is the hometown of one of our awesome local guides who has put together this evolving awesome day trips itinerary. In Glenbrook we’ll stop for a short coffee/smoothie/chai latte, bathrooms, grab some take away brekkie. Glenny shops has lots of options all within a short stroll. Overnight oats, yoghurt cups, bacon & egg rolls, fruit, donut shop, vegetarian/vegan snacks and a small supermarket if you forgot your water or sunblock. After our toilet & snacks stop we head further up the mountains climbing about 700 meters in altitude over a 35 min drive. Be sure to grab a coffee as you are not allowed to sleep anymore. We often play a connecting game on this drive or get the interactive playlist going on the bus. Lincolns Rock lookout is next on the agenda. Lincoln Rock is also known as flat rock on blog sites and is a lookout where you really feel like you are standing on the edge of the world. This stop is a short and easy stroll from the bus, pretty much no hills. We spend enough time here to spread out and get amazing photos overlooking the huge Jamison Valley with Mt Solitary in the distance. This is where you will likely get that new profile picture….we see it lots ha ha. No fence here so please stay 2 meters from all edges. Next we do a short drive over to Wenty Falls (Wentworth Falls) for our guided waterfall nature walk. This walk is amazing and we are so happy to be able to share its beauty with you. This bushwalk is a total of approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours. On this walk we have ongoing views through the gum tree into the vast valley with its distant light blue haze. We see multiple waterfalls and cascades including the big 187 meter waterfall. Keep your head low as we walk the Overcliff-Undercliff track. This walk is mostly moderate-easy however there is a difficult section of about 15 minutes returning up the steep stairs from the bottom of the large waterfall. It is optional to skip this and wait for the groups return (chat with your guide). Be sure to check our photos here or on Insta too coastwarriors Lunch: All that sightseeing, bush walking and waterfalls makes people hungry, so after we walk back up the Stairs Of Doom back to have our picnic lunch overlooking Jamison Valley. We do also cater for veggos, vegans, celiacs etc. You are welcome to bring your own drinks of any kind to have with your lunch. Please be eco friendly and bring a water bottle that you may refill throughout the day. Generally lunch is a cafe made sandwich or chicken wrap. We grab dietary requests in the morning. Noel (bus name) powers further up the mountains to Ktown (Katoomba) home of the famous Three Sisters rock formations at Echo Point - the iconic image of the Blue Mountains. We view the three ladies up close where your guide will inform you of their aboriginal significance. Walk round and take in the amazing locaion and views. There is a small cafe with coffee/tea/smoothie/ice cream/snacks here. Also a local jewellery shop, souvenir shop and toilets. We spend about 30 mins at this location. This is a very busy and touristic location. At a nearby reserve we often get the chance to get up close to wild white cockatoos that move around the upper Blue Mountains area. These Sulphur-crested cockatoos love a good insta photo and will come up close to you and often land on your arm….so many photos. If birds are not your thing feel free to walk over to the nearby waterfall instead (3 min walk). Depending on the time and a check of return traffic we try to add in another lookout, often Cahill lookout over Megalong Valley. This is only on efficient days/groups which can include parking issues, traffic issues, closed tracks, people not listening to the guide re return times etc. Returning Sydney: Tour concludes at 812 George Street Haymarket about 5.30pm depending on traffic. Upon return in Sydney, we often scatter for a warm shower in our accommodation. However we do recommend attending one of the nearby pubs together for a drink or a typical pub classic dinner. Great Southern Hotel is a 60 second walk. The drop off point is only minutes walk from central train/bus station, Chinatown and the beautiful Darling Harbour. The nearby Haymarket Lightrail stop will take you back down the centre of the city through Town Hall, Wynyard to circular key (Opera house & Harbour bridge). Tap on & off with your credit card or Apple/Google pay. This operates about every 5 mins.
