Day 1: Rainbow Beach
Check into your beachfront accommodation and then head out to explore! You can visit the famous Colored Sands. They are a unique geological formation that consists of over 70 different shades of sand and offers stunning panoramic views of the coastline. You can hike to the top of the Carlo sand blow for a breathtaking view of the area.
Day 2: Departure from Rainbow Beach
Kick off your adventure bright and early at Freedom Hostel with a mandatory briefing at 7am sharp. Get prepped for the journey ahead, form groups, and gear up with sleeping bag rentals and luggage storage. Learn essential driving tips for K'gari (Fraser Island) before setting off by 9:30 am. Cruise on a 10-minute barge to the world's largest sand island, where you'll navigate the famous 75 Mile Beach to Eurong Beach Resort. Indulge in a morning coffee and croissant before heading to the iconic Lake McKenzie for lunch, a swim, and breathtaking views. Finally, settle into your campsite for dinner, drinks, and unforgettable camaraderie.
Day 3: Fraser Island
Rise and shine for a hearty breakfast before diving into a full day of exploration on K'gari (Fraser Island). Begin with a refreshing swim at Eli Creek, then journey north to marvel at the historic Maheno Shipwreck and the majestic Indian Head. Spot whales and sharks from the island's highest point before cooling off at Champagne Pools. Lunch is served amidst the island's natural wonders before returning to camp for an evening of relaxation, good food, and shared stories.
Day 4: Return to Rainbow Beach from K'gari (Fraser Island)
After breakfast, pack up camp and embark on the Lake Wabby walk, discovering a hidden tropical oasis amidst the dunes. Enjoy a satisfying lunch before bidding farewell to K'gari (Fraser Island) and heading back to the mainland. Wrap up your adventure with a quick stop at the 4WD shed for cleaning and unpacking before returning to Freedom Hostel between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Jump onboard the overnight bus and set off for Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays.
Day 5: Airlie Beach
You'll arrive in the tropical paradise of Airlie Beach bright and early. This morning you'll check into your central Airlie Beach accommodation. No time to waste! Drop your bags and head out to explore this beachside town before preparing for your Whitsundays tour tomorrow!
Day 6: Airlie Beach to Whitsundays
Board your boat and set sail across the Whitsunday Passage towards Hook Passage. Enjoy a swim in the tropical waters and watch the sunset over the islands. Indulge in a freshly prepared meal and relax on deck under the stars, with the chance to spot dolphins and other marine life.
Day 7: Whitsunday Islands
Start your day with a continental breakfast before visiting Hill Inlet lookout and Whitehaven Beach. Explore the pristine sands and enjoy beach activities. Return for lunch onboard before snorkeling or diving in the vibrant coral reef. End the day with a picturesque sunset sail.
Day 8: Whitsundays to Airlie Beach
Wake up early for more water activities before sailing back to Airlie Beach. End the trip with an exclusive after-party in Airlie Beach and one final night in paradise.
Day 9: Depart Airlie Beach
