The Maheno Shipwreck is one of K’gari’s most recognisable landmarks, resting along 75 Mile Beach on the island’s eastern coast. In 1935, while being towed to Japan for scrap, it was caught in a cyclone and washed ashore, where it has remained ever since. Today, the rusting hull is a popular photo stop and a reminder of the island’s maritime history. Get your iconic photo in front of the famous shipwreck!
